Strategic Innovation role is to support GIS T-BD office to develop, manage and track each innovation project in GIS within the FoS funnel.
He/She is to take the lead to drive translation outcome using the FoS engine as a mechanism such as calling/scouting/fishing for new innovation ideas, developing innovation projects, and validating/supporting the projects leaders to achieve funding and eventual spin-off. He/She will also constantly innovate and improve the FoS engine by working closely with GIS management and I&E, hence allowing the GIS to establish good and successful spin-offs.
1. Calling/scouting/fishing for new innovation ideas within GIS. Discussing with PIs, GIS Tech Biz Research Partnership team, Post-docs, to identify new innovation ideas to develop into innovation projects.
a. Attend GIS scientific event (ie. GIS weekly) to scout potential innovation ideas with commercial value.
b. Attend GIS Tech Biz TD showcase/review to scout potential innovation ideas from the TDs.
2. Work with Innovation Project Leaders to qualify/validate problem statement.
3. Work with PIs/Innovation Project Leaders to provide commercial assessment/evaluation (ie. Market assessment, validation with industry players) to the Innovation Projects.
4. Track, manage and report out progress of each innovation project.
5. Main point of contact for GIS? FoS.
6. Manage and oversees the community of EIR (including Innovation Project Leaders, GIS Innovation Fellow, Aspired Entrepreneur and Spun-off Alumni).
7. Any other duties assigned by supervisor.
Job requirements
1. Degree in Business Administration or equivalent, or Degree in scientific discipline related to GIS core businesses, e.g. Bioinformatic, or biomedical engineering, or biology, or chemistry, or equivalent.
2. Must possess an entrepreneurial spirit, must be innovative and drive to create, modify and build new frameworks to achieve objectives.
3. 3-5 years of industry experience in R&D, Business Development in medical devices and life sciences preferred or related industries.
4. Prior experiences leading innovation projects are preferred.
5. Customer-oriented and a team player.
6. Hands-on approach.
7. Ability to build and maintain long-term and short-term partnerships.
8. Occasional travel may be required.
