Job Description:
Consultation and Diagnosis:
- Conduct thorough clinical behavioural assessments and consultations, including medical evaluations.
- Identify underlying causes of behavioural issues, such as medical conditions, environmental factors, or learned behaviours.
Treatment:
- Develop individualized behaviour modification plans and treatment protocols.
- When appropriate and diagnosed, prescribe and manage medications to support behaviour therapy.
- Educate pet owners on implementing necessary intervention to address behavioural challenges.
Client & Stakeholders Communication:
Partner with Primary Care Physician (PCP), certified animal trainers, and animal care professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
- Provide clear communication and training to pet owners about behaviour management techniques.
- Deliver ongoing support and follow-up to monitor progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
Education and Training:
- Train, veterinary behaviourist residents and other veterinary staff on behavioural issues, safe handling techniques, and early intervention strategies.
- When available, to organize workshops, seminars, or webinars for clients.
- Stay updated on the latest research in animal behaviour and veterinary science.
Record Keeping and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical and behavioural records for all cases.
Desired skills and experience:
Education: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or VMD) degree.
- Specialization: Board certification from the American College of Veterinary Behaviourists (ACVB) or European College of Animal Welfare and Behavioural Medicine or equivalent credential.
- Experience: Prior experience in veterinary behaviour consulting, or related roles.
