Job Summary

As a Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of backup software, physical and virtual servers, and related infrastructure. You will ensure the integrity, availability, and performance of the systems under your care through diligent patching, configuration, and collaboration with vendors. Additionally, you will contribute to technical exercises and troubleshooting to maintain robust and secure IT operations.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Administration and Maintenance
Manage physical and virtual servers running SuSE Linux and Windows Server operating systems.
Administer backup software such as Networker, Avamar, Acronis, and Arcserve.
Maintain backup hardware, including Data Domain, ECS, Hitachi CGX, and Tape Libraries.
System Security and Updates
Perform security patching and hardening of systems.
Upgrade backup software and operating systems as required.
Installation and Configuration
Install and configure backup software to meet organizational needs.
Set up and configure new physical servers.
Troubleshooting and Vendor Management
Collaborate with hardware and software vendors to resolve technical issues.
Analyze and review logs from backup systems and hardware to identify potential issues.
Technical Support and Exercises
Participate in technical exercises and initiatives to improve IT operations.
Provide support beyond regular business hours, including weekends, as necessary.

Requirements

Technical Skills
Proficiency in Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022 administration.
Knowledge of SuSE Linux administration.
Familiarity with network security concepts.
Experience with cloud-based backup solutions (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
Experience
A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in systems and backup technologies is preferred
Flexibility
Availability to work beyond standard business hours, including weekends, when necessary.
