What the role is:You study the strategic communications environment, online information trends and developments, their applications and implications for MINDEF/SAF and Singapore. You also coordinate projects to enhance MINDEF/SAF's strategic communications efforts. You develop content for MINDEF/SAF's social media platforms which aim to safeguard the reputation and credibility of MINDEF/SAF and, where necessary, Singapore, defend the domestic information space and further MINDEF/SAF or Singapore's interests.What you will be working on:In addition, you test and validate MINDEF/SAF's media-sensing capabilities and effectiveness of information strategies, to develop tailored strategies and communications efforts towards achieving MINDEF/SAF strategic communications objectives. Your challenge lies in being able to grasp ongoing developments in the media environment and to formulate effective communication plans. You must be astute and be able swiftly understand how real-world issues and developments impacts MINDEF/SAF in an increasingly saturated, fast-paced information environment. Lastly, you must be able to maintain a calm head, be flexible and adapt to changes in the short-cycle information environment.What we are looking for:You must have a tertiary qualification, preferably in Mass Communications or Social Sciences (e.g. Political Science, International Relations, Psychology, Economics). Good analytical skills and writing abilities are essential. Having a good awareness of Singapore's political, defence and security developments, as well as current affairs is advantageous. Having an acute awareness of the regional and international media environment, and how it can be leveraged to the benefit of MINDEF/SAF and its interests is also beneficial.
