We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative MEMS Device Designer/Scientist to join our cutting-edge research and development team @Lab-in-Fab, IME. The successful candidate will design, develop, and optimize MEMS piezoelectric MEMS devices including ultrasound transducers, micro speakers, and sensors and actuators for various applications, e.g. biomedical imaging, air-coupled ranging and sensing, non-destructive testing, and microfluidics. The role involves close collaboration with industry partners, process engineers, and application engineers, to push the boundaries of PiezoMEMS technology. This position requires the ability to bridge R&D innovation with production scalability to create impactful, high-performance products.

Supervise junior staffs and students
Device Design:
Design PMUTs (Piezoelectric Micromachined Ultrasonic Transducers), micro speakers, piezoelectric actuators.
Perform device modeling and simulation (experience for COMSOL is preferred). Optimize device performance based on application-specific requirements, including resonance frequency, bandwidth, sensitivity, and power consumption.
Collaborate with ASIC designers for MEMS-CMOS co-development. Integrate MEMS ultrasound devices into systems for applications such as imaging, gesture recognition, ranging, and microfluidics.
Collaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure seamless device functionality in end-use systems.
Process Platform Development:
Drive the development of advanced process platform to establish leadership in piezoelectric MEMS technology. Collaborate closely with process teams to innovate and optimize MEMS structures
Develop and execute testing protocols for MEMS acoustic devices, including acoustic, mechanical, and electrical characterization.
Analyze experimental data to validate designs and identify areas for improvement.
Research and Innovation:
Stay up to date with advancements in MEMS technology, ultrasound systems, and piezoelectric materials.
Contribute to scientific publications, patents, and conference presentations.
Qualifications
Education:
Ph.D., Master or bachelor degree in electrical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics, or a related field.
Experience:
Preferred candidates with at least 5 years of experience in MEMS device design and development, as well as a proven track record in product development and commercialization within the MEMS industry.
Demonstrated expertise in piezoelectric transducer design
Hands-on experience with MEMS fabrication processes and characterization tools.
Skills:
Proficiency in simulation tools such as COMSOL Multiphysics, ANSYS, or equivalent.
Knowledge of MEMS fabrication techniques, including lithography, etching, and thin-film deposition.
Familiarity with acoustic characterization techniques (e.g., impedance analysis, laser Doppler vibrometry, ultrasound imaging, wafer level measurement).
Strong programming and data analysis skills (MATLAB, Python, etc.).
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic R&D environment.
