Job Purpose

To manage a team of three direct reports, and handle integrated communications, publicity, marketing and outreach efforts through digital/social media assets, marketing materials, news, events and community engagement, in order to support the School’s objectives (e.g. promote university education, research and innovation at NUS Computing).


To work with Office of University Communications (UCO) for press releases, media requests, and management of school-level events.

Key Responsbilities

  • Develop strategies for marketing, communications and publicity to all different stakeholders that are aligned with the School’s objectives.
  • Manage the production and dissemination of original, audience-targeted, platform/channel-specific marketing and publicity content across various mediums.
  • Manage school’s digital assets, including the website, microsites and social media accounts.
  • Run annual events such as Open House, Info Session, outreach sessions to schools, in-house outreach workshops.
  • Mentor a team of profession staff members. Define roles and delegate job responsibilities to staff members.
  • Manage recruitment, training, performance and payment of student ambassadors.
  • Liaise with UCO for press releases, media requests, school and university-level events, and other branding efforts.
  • Provide support for ad hoc projects for Deanery, such as research reports, gathering of statistics.

Qualifications

  • Degree or experience in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or other relevant fields.
  • At least 12 years’ experience in communications or related field, of which at least 3 years in a leadership role managing direct reports.
  • Excellent communication skills (English; written & spoken).
  • Strong inter-personal, time management and organizational skills.
  • Interest in and excellent understanding of computing and technology, and ability to communicate complex tech concepts and ideas simply and clearly to target audiences.
  • Good eye for design and excellent instincts for content that will resonate with and engage the NUS Computing community and prospective students and faculty members.
  • Demonstrated success leading the production of creative, original, targeted and platform-specific content across various mediums and channels.
  • Demonstrated success managing events with local and international audiences and VIPs.
  • Demonstrated success in directing and managing the stakeholder/partner consultation/collaboration, design, development, UX/UI testing, rollout and maintenance of data/content management systems (CMS).
  • Proficient in use of social media tools, web analytics and running online marketing/community engagement campaigns.
  • Proficient in use of the latest tech solutions for improving workflow and productivity.
  • Web writing/development, graphic design, photography, and/or video production skills would be advantageous.
  • The initial appointment is 2 years' contract, subject to reappointment.
