Senior Network Engineer

Summary:

We are looking for a competent System Communications Designer to join our Engineering Department in preparation for upcoming bids and projects in the Defence and Public Security sectors. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing and deploying multi-site data communication networks. Knowledge of hybrid network architecture (on-premise networks interfacing with cloud infrastructure) and cybersecurity principles (e.g., network segmentation, access control) is highly desirable. The role involves collaborating with system engineering teams to meet complex design requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Design and specify detailed network solutions, including the integration of cybersecurity measures (firewalls, access controls) and IT infrastructure (servers, data backup).
• Interface with customer technical teams for design definitions and requirements.
• Collaborate with system-wide designers and suppliers for service and product definition.
• Evaluate and recommend suitable network products within budgetary constraints.
• Lead the deployment, testing, and commissioning of network solutions at various sites, producing necessary documentation.
• Provide installation and maintenance support during network implementation.
• Track and manage the progress of design and interface tasks, ensuring the delivery of drawings, specifications, reports, and other project documentation.
• Occasionally assist in cybersecurity or IT infrastructure tasks with guidance from relevant experts.

Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Science fields.
• Cisco Certified Networking Professional (CCNP) or Cisco Data Center Certificate (or equivalent certification) is advantageous.
• 5+ years of experience as a Network Engineer, with at least 2 years focused on network design work.
• Proven experience in LAN, WAN, Wireless, and SD-WAN technologies.
• Familiarity with various protocols, including TCP/IP, VLAN, RADIUS, SNMP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, EVPN, VRF-Lite, and VXLAN.
• Knowledge of hardening network appliances or server infrastructure.
• Experience in any of the following areas is a plus:
• Network design and implementation
• Network hardware configuration
• Network performance tuning
• Deploying network firewalls such as Fortinet or Palo Alto
• Setting up and managing RADIUS/TACACS servers for network access control

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of direct experience in network engineering.
• Cisco certifications or equivalent expertise in networking.
• Experience with network design in Security domain projects.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity principles is a plus
