The Operations Department operates along the ambit of Operations and Mobilisation Division (OMD). It is established to enhance NTUC’s interoperability in various scenarios and its Business Continuity Management (BCM) Readiness.

The department focus is to support NTUC through planning, coordinating, and executing a suite of Labour Movement and BCM operations as it is tasked. It builds itself as a “platform” for NTUC and its departments to optimise their operational resources and from the process, deliver the best outcomes to the operations.

The department is made up of two arms, the (1) Operational Planning and (2) Current Operations arm. These two arms provide the department with the ability to “Plan, Act and Monitor” any operations that are tasked to them.

The operational planning arm predominantly “look ahead” to anticipate and plan for possible operations that need to be carried out and implement training for NTUC Leadership and Staff to enhance their operational knowledge and ability. The current ops arm operates an Operation Centre as a nerve centre for NTUC to enhance its situational awareness. In a time of need, it will mobilise resources to support related operations.

The Operations Department also work with the Division Secretariat to align itself with the division strategic requirements for its development.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Drafting of Business Continuity ‘Drawer Plans’ and Exercise Plans

  • Develop of Business Continuity Plans and submission for approval
  • Conduct routine review and update of BCP to maintain relevance and effectiveness
  • Develop BCP training and exercise plans for the various scenario presented in the NTUC Readiness Framework
  • Coordinate resources, and drive the build-up for the conduct of BCP exercises and/or training
  • Perform routine update of BCP training and exercise plans

2. Operational Roles

  • Provide briefing of the BCP when activated for ops
  • Coordinate with internal and external planners on planning data and latest info.
  • Update and collate adjusted BCP and prepare for issuing of instructions to executer
  • Compile lesson learnt and operational reports for submission to appropriate forums
  • Review and update of BCP based on new lesson learnt

3. Department Administration

  • Manage and coordinate team’s work schedule (including Department Director’s) with Principal Executives, Ops Planning
  • Oversee general administration for Ops Planning team
  • Staff as secretary for team meeting
  • Undertake secondary task required of team participation (e.g. Meeting Secretariat, dept fire warden and SMO, etc.)

4. Miscellaneous Projects

  • Organise and facilitate town hall meetings for NTUC staff
  • Coordinate team building and department activities
  • Staff as secretariat role for weekly NTUC leadership meeting including minutes writing

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years of relevant experience in operations planning or business continuity management.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment with minimum supervision.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with stakeholders
  • Excellent communication (oral & written) and presentation skills.
  • A collaborative team player with a positive and proactive attitude.
