Manager, Planning

Responsibilities

  • Leadership: Lead all planning activities from long-range (Multi-Horizon) planning to seasonal planning processes.
  • Support Development: Develop seasonal supply planning processes and resolve service issues due to demand shifts, capacity problems, fabric concerns, and forecast variances.
  • Decision Making: Utilize relationship building and strong analytical skills to drive decision making, ensuring processes are integrated and aligned across all regions.
  • Team Development: Lead and develop direct reports under the guidance of VF Guiding Principles. Foster One VF culture in interactions with direct reports, internal stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
  • Process Improvement: Lead current planning processes and implement improvements for efficiency in line with team and company strategy.
  • S&OP and NPI Processes: Lead S&OP and Critical products/NPI processes, partnering with the Regional Planning counterpart to develop and monitor processes, templates, and metrics, including target setting, training, and process maintenance.
  • Global Operations Meetings: Lead monthly Global Operations meetings.
  • Demand Forecasting: Understand demand forecasts and market information from regions to drive conversations and decisions for seasonal and long-range planning.
  • Escalation Point: Act as the escalation point for regions and production planning teams for order/shipment change requests to support on-time delivery and regional inventory targets.
  • Sourcing Strategy: Follow the sourcing strategy to develop country and factory group allocations, ensuring vendor capacity is considered and managed in the seasonal allocation process.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Production Planning partners to consolidate SKU allocation, factory capacity, factory capability, business region requirements, and prebuild by construction, month, facility, and construction.
  • Reporting: Provide a consolidated demand report in a global view, prepare a prebuild plan by business team, and develop mitigation plans if a shortfall in capacity arises.
  • Risk and Opportunity Analysis: Provide risk and opportunity analysis and present to senior management and business teams.
  • Planning Analysis: Enable smooth seasonal/monthly buy through planning analysis/solutions to balance demand and capacity.
  • Change Agent: Act as a change agent/ambassador throughout the Product Supply and Supply Chain organization by building trust, communicating business objectives, and management vision clearly and consistently.
  • Team Recruitment and Development: Recruit and maintain a best-in-class team to meet or exceed business performance expectations. Foster an environment of empowerment and passion where trust, creativity, innovation, and openness can thrive.
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic leadership and mentoring to team members, maximize their development, and drive clear succession plans.

Prerequisites

  • Experience: At least 7 years of experience in planning, with exposure to manufacturing and/or consumer goods such as footwear, clothing, and bags.
  • Supervisory Experience: At least 3 years of strong team leadership experience.
  • Education: University/College degree/diploma or above.
  • Language Proficiency: Excellent English (writing and speaking) proficiency.
  • Technical Skills: Excellent Excel, PowerPoint, and presentation skills. Strong analytical skills and systems knowledge, with experience in SAP or Cognos required.
  • Subject Matter Knowledge: Possesses deep functional subject matter knowledge.
  • Supply Chain Understanding: Understanding of supply chain processes with experience in forecasting and S&OP.
  • Management Experience: Proven management experience, including leading, coaching, mentoring, and building effective teams within a department.
