Summary
The role of the classroom teacher is to use current, best-practice instructional approaches to help students learn and apply skills and concepts in all subject areas. The teacher plays a vital role in establishing and maintaining a classroom environment that is favourable to learning, risk taking and personal growth.
Responsibilities
- Applies knowledge of current best practices for teaching and learning in the Primary School grades.
- Facilitates learning activities that foster the development of critical thinking and technology skills.
- Implements, reflects upon, and refines the Primary Years Programme Units of Inquiry in partnership with the grade level team and the PYP Coordinator.
- Implements adopted curricula such as First Steps Reading and other curricula that will be implemented.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude toward, and enthusiasm for working with children, their parents, colleagues and the subject matter taught.
- Plans, prepares and delivers inquiry-based PYP lessons for a range of academic abilities.
- Values diversity of cultures and opinions; models and promotes international- mindedness among students and colleagues.
- Provides individualized and small group instruction. Adapts materials and learning activities to the needs of the students in the class.
- Utilizes effective strategies for teaching English Language learners to assist them in developing their English Language proficiency.
- Maintains appropriate records of student progress and development.
- Uses data effectively to inform and guide instruction and to provide ongoing feedback to students and parents.
- Selects and uses a range of different learning resources, technology and equipment appropriate for teaching the PYP.
- Plans, communicates and implements effective classroom management which fosters the development of the attributes of the PYP Learner Profile.
- Enthusiastically participates in, and provides input for school committees and activities.
- Participates in grade level team meetings, parents’ evenings and whole school training events.
- Collaborates and coordinates regularly with other professionals such as the PYP Coordinator, Learning Support and Literacy Support and ESL teachers.
- Promotes innovation by being committed to continuous improvement based on reflection, self-assessment and school-wide academic initiatives.
- Celebrates learning experiences and makes them visible to the school community through displays, posters, newsletters, websites, public performances, etc.
- Any ad-hoc academic duties as requested by Academic Directors
Requirements
- You should possess a Degree or relevant professional qualification, teaching licence in educational administration.
- You should ideally possess a minimum 2 years of teaching experience in IB PYP or in an international school environment.
- You should possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills to liaise with parents, students and teachers
- You should possess excellent leadership skills and problem solving skills and be able to work at ease with people from different cultural backgrounds.
- You should ideally possess excellent IT skills
- You are a team player and are comfortable to work with all departments across the organization
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $4,500.00 - $7,500.00 per month
