Description

Responsible for:

a) Performing DC/optical testing on spare/system cables and submersible plant during cable operation, to ensure the integrity and reliability of the cable system.

b) Keeping deck watch duties during cable operation, when required.

c) Carrying out the cable jointing to the required specifications, when required.

d) Assessing the cable joints (visual and X-Ray examination) to the relevant specification.

e) Assisting the Chief/Senior Technical Specialist in planning, case study and preparing the cable & plant loading/discharging plan to effect a cable operation.

f) Assisting the Chief/Senior Technical Specialist with compilation of repair data.

g) Carrying out routine maintenance and repairing on communication systems (MVSAT, FBB, Mobile signal booster, PA, PABX, etc.), CCTV, cable instrumentation systems (Tension system, Makai, etc.), testing equipment and jointing equipment.

h) Carrying out routine maintenance and servicing on IT server, IoT server, Email server, computers, LAN, routers, printers and photocopying machine onboard the vessel.

i) Maintaining and updating the equipment calibration list and arrange with office to send out whose equipment due for external calibration.

k) Keeping up-to-date of departmental asset, outfit, inventory and disposal records.

l) Creating the Purchase Requisitions

m) Maintaining and updating all Quality Records, Controlled Documents, system data, repair reports, RPL, SLD, etc.

n) Submitting repair KPI, monthly returns, etc. to office.

o) Attaching to Subsea Dept during the ROV PRIB operation as ROV operator, when required.

p) Providing land cable repair support.

q) Any other duties assigned by Chief/Senior Technical Specialist and/or Head Technical Specialist.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Diploma/Degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering or Technical Certification from a recognized institution.
  • Basic Safety Training, STCW 2010.
  • Willing to stay onboard the vessels
  • Traing will be provided for those with optical cable repair or IT experience
