The head of Alternative Specialists Team for APAC will be responsible for managing a team of professionals across Hong Kong and Singapore, responsible for driving education, training, and marketing of alternative investment products across all the client segments of Citi Wealth in Asia.
**This role could be based in either Singapore or Hong Kong**
Responsibilities
- Senior business leader who will help lead a team of Alternative Investment Specialists across Hong Kong and Singapore
- Alternative Investment products include Private Equity, Private Credit, Real Estate and Hedge Funds
- Will represent the firm and act as a product champion internally to drive the growth of alternative business.
- Build strong relationship with the various senior stakeholders, both internal and external
- Actively engaged in industry activities/events and identify trends including competition to ensure Citi has a competitive product offering.
- Educate the Advisory teams (Bankers and Investment Counsellors) to enhance and improve the proficiency in the alternative investment products.
- Function as an internal product expert and develop marketing programs to help drive the inflows.
- Help develop and manage the pipeline for new product launches. This will require a broad collaboration across various teams including Origination, Product Management, Advisory and the external Fund Managers
- Responsible for managing the relationships with the Fund Manager with respect to Asia’s business.
- Collaborate with Advisory teams to evaluate client profiles and their exposure to alternatives and produce actionable plan to increase the penetration of the alternative products across the various client segments.
- Work in close partnership with the Alternative & Investment Manager Solutions (AIMS) team on product management, development, and fund-raising strategies. Help provide the feedback to the AIMS team to ensure any gaps in product offerings are addressed.
- Attend client meetings with the Advisory teams.
- Strong execution and implementation ability
- Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency, as well as effectively supervise the activity of others and create accountability with those who fail to maintain these standards.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience which includes managerial/leadership roles.
- Background in alternative products
- Sales and relationship management experience. Ability to set effective goals and demonstrated ability to consistently enforce sales and performance management disciplines.
- Experience in driving results through influence/thought leadership.
- Proven execution skills and ability to negotiate client risk appetite and business strategy.
- Elevated level of emotional intelligence
- Effective communication skills in English. Proficiency in Cantonese or Mandarin or both will be a plus
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required. Relevant advanced qualifications (e.g., MBA, CFA, CAIA) preferred.
