Short Description for Internal Candidates
Under general supervision, independently manages the execution and timely completion of basic EMC and RF projects. This includes analyzing project scope, determining specifications, establishing and reviewing test programs, and preparing client reports. Also responsible for opening, maintaining, completing, and closing assigned projects.
Responsibilities:Independently defines project scope, creates an investigation plan, and determines specifications like cost, timeline, and sample needs by analyzing client input and product data.
- Maintains client communication to address technical issues, discuss costs, negotiate timelines, and resolve complex concerns.
- Regularly updates clients on project status through reports and ongoing contact.
- Incorporates continuous improvement practices, oversees and reviews the work of assigned staff, and provides training for lab staff and entry-level engineers.
- Offers technical support across various product categories and systems.
- Adheres to the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and all security protocols.
- Performs additional duties as required.
Qualifications for Internal Candidates
- Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with 2+ years of experience in EMC and Wireless testing and certification across various products, methods, and standards.
- Proven track record in managing multiple projects while delivering high-quality results and excellent customer service.
- Strong collaboration skills, working effectively with Engineering and Laboratory teams to ensure timely, accurate project completion.
- Expertise in assessing unique testing requirements and conducting product safety and electrical performance tests.
- Experience in Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and/or Radio Frequency (RF) testing or knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 standards is highly preferred.
- Skilled communicator with strong analytical, project management, and teamwork abilities.
- Supports strategic initiatives and process improvements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and various communication tools.JOB FUNCTION:
Serves as Project Lead for complex projects as assigned and is responsible for evaluating, explaining, and completing the test report for intricate customer samples. Follows defined test plans and data sheets utilizing a single testing technology. Operates and maintains complex test equipment and customer samples. Communicates with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follows complex defined test plans and datasheets utilizing a single technology. Evaluates test performance and sample operation to properly evaluate test results. Records and explains test results and completes test report.
- Serves as Project Lead for complex test programs as assigned with the needed assistance. Communicates project status and results as needed. Holds responsibility for defining test plan, report completion and accuracy, meeting of agreed deadlines, and managing project related activities.
- Examines complex customer samples and learns to operate appropriate tests for each case. Communicates with customers during setup and operation to ensure proper evaluation.
- Understands and is able to explain specific test standards and product technology for scope of responsibility.
- Directs, builds and/or adapts simple test setups and equipment to new situations, based on test plans and instructions from engineering. Trains other lab staff on these test procedures or equipment.
- Operates and maintains complex test and support equipment appropriately to measure and test customer samples with the necessary help. Performs complex maintenance on designated test equipment and laboratory area. May perform calibration of test equipment.
- For a single testing technology, integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job. Communicates with management and technical staff to provide suggestions for new equipment, processes, and forms to improve accuracy and efficiencies.
- Performs other duties as directed.
REQUIREMENT
- University Degree in Mechanical Engineering (in related field of work)
- 2 years of directly related work experience in certification or testing environment
- Familiar with test standards and certification process
- Effective communication skills and ability to interact with customers
- Organized and have excellent time management skills
- Proven ability to be innovative and creative
- Desire to work in a team-oriented environment
