Responsible in the preparation of line index, tie-in list, piping layout and information, loading calculation, MTO sketch, BM/BQ, and 2D/3D CAD modeling of piping system, equipment and structure, interference detection, and model review.
Has the technical responsibility for developing stress/vibration sketch/model, and mechanical data, for interpreting moment, stress, reaction force, and displacement, and for coordination these responsibilities with reports to ensure timely completion that meets project schedule and budget.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Studies ITB, project and design basis such as scope of work, overall project schedule, basic design data, client specification, client standard drawings, existing drawings, and plot plan through the guidance of Senior Piping.
- Prepares line index, tie-in list, piping layout, piping information, loading calculation, steam trace layout, MTO sketch, BM/BQ, plan and isometric drawing in compliance with project standards, specifications, contract requirements, and accepted engineering and construction practices.
- Selects line which requires stress/vibration sketch following the criteria set for analysis and evaluation, prepares mechanical data, and performs calculation for initial displacement with assistance of Senior Piping Engineer.
- Assists in developing model for stress/vibration analysis, interprets and evaluates result, and recommends method of resolution to comply with applicable vendor’s allowable or code requirements.
- Performs highly specialised 3D CAD modeling of equipment, structural, and piping system, interference detection, annotation, model review, and plan drawing extraction according to project 3D modelling procedure and by the use of PDS Intergraph or SP3D CAD software.
- Prepares steam trace piping drawings and pipe support drawings in 2D CAD format.
- Assists the Senior Piping Engineers or project Key Person in field survey work to develop conceptual routing, verify tie-in location, and other related activities.
- Performs other tasks that may be assigned or designated to him/her by his/her superior.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering with 5 years of experience.
- Training will be provided.
- Ability to use computer equipment and peripherals to carry out routine computing and 2D/3D CAD tasks. Ability to adapt with changes due to upgrading of computer software. Capable to utilize AutoCAD/Cad Pipe /Microstation 2D CAD; PDS Intergraph and SP3D softwares with minimal assistance.
- Ability to apply mathematical concepts in piping calculations such as exponents, logarithms, trigonometric functions, quadratic equations and other applicable formulas.
- Ability to read, analyse and interpret common technical information, reports and instructions. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients and ability to write effective minutes of meeting and other related business communication.
