Job Description

The Senior Manager provides leadership to the assigned Operations section of the Integrated Process Team (IPT) in the following areas:

JOB PURPOSE

  • A role model for "Safety First" and "Quality Always" mindset and behavior; ensuring injury-free workplace and high-quality products being manufactured in the facility.
  • Ensure compliant and uninterrupted supply of medicine to our patients and customers, delivering operational targets across all aspects of running the business.
  • Develop and deliver longer-term strategic business and people goals; and build an organization that focuses on rapid and continuous improvement.
  • Coach and develop production leads and/or operation-support individuals to ensure they achieve high standards of competencies and skills to perform their roles and responsibilities.
  • Primary point of contact for the IPT in managing the various tiers and document approvals.
  • Drive and sustain continuous improvement in the IPT, leveraging MPS to improve business efficiencies with effective problem solving, process standardization and mindset/behavioral change.

MAIN RESPONSBILITIES

Manufacturing Excellence

IPT Management Team

  • Serve as a member of IPT Management Team. Provide direction to the Operations group to develop & establish plans to support site and IPT strategies.
  • Collaborate with other site Operation Leads to benchmark and share best practices/lessons learned and ensure consistent approaches are implemented.

Customer Service

  • Ensure all customer service targets are met in the aspects of quality and on-time supply of products.

Lean Metrics

  • Lead the Operations Team in meeting the metrics target and lead weekly and monthly reviews of operations related metrics to monitor performance, identify trends, facilitate development of action plans, and track completion of action plans.

Operation Excellence

  • Participate in IPT tiers and prioritize operations resources to resolve identified issues and/or unplanned events with agility and flexibility.
  • Ensure maintenance of Visual Factory tools and facilitate further development as required.
  • Ensure structured problem-solving and analysis methodologies are used at all levels.

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement at all levels in the operations team to increase agility, flow and throughput, and to reduce cycle time and inventory.
  • Lead and promote Kaizen initiatives within the IPT and assign resources as required.
  • Lead "Right First Time" initiatives for error reduction and sustain 5S throughout all work areas.

Financial Stewardship

  • Support development of the IPT profit plan, participate in regular forecast reviews, update and have overall responsibility for ensuring profit plan is delivered in the areas of direct labour, yield, material usage, waste and consumables.

Quality/ SHE Stewardship

Quality

  • Promote "Quality Always" culture for the Operations Team and proactively support Inspection­ Readiness and cGMP compliance matters.
  • Ensure all quality notifications and customer complaints are fully investigated with any proposed actions effectively implemented within the agreed time frame.
  • Ensure production support activities are completed according to established procedures and support the IPT in improving "Right First Time" performance through deviation reduction and the provision of error-proof documentation.
  • Manage SOPs to ensure compliance to regulatory standards and ensure documents are generated and maintained to the required standards and appropriate frequency.
  • Support and manage internal and external regulatory inspections, implement actions and drive closure of responses to observations.
  • Act as sub--system owner for allocated sub-systems (i.e. Manufacturing Practices, Cleaning/Housekeeping/ Maintenance, Facilities & Equipment Design and Packaging Control).

Safety. Health & Environment (EHS)

  • Work with IPT Leader and EHS partner to drive the "Safety First" culture and improve EHS performance within the IPT, ensuring Safe by Choice program implementation, EHS Risk Management & Change Management systems are effective, work risks are communicated and adequately controlled.
  • Demonstrate and promote EHS leadership behaviors to all direct reports and engage employees at all levels on EHS issues.
  • Ensure required risk assessments are carried out for the IPT in a timely manner, recommendations provided and implemented as agreed.
  • Participate in and support implementation of actions for all Incident Investigations and Audits.

People Excellence

People Management

  • Work with the IPT Leader to implement Performance Management Process effectively, ensuring objectives are developed, timely continuous feedback is provided to direct reports, and Operations team members are appropriately rewarded based on performance and demonstration of our leadership standards.
  • Promote a culture of continuous learning and identify opportunities to develop Leads and Technicians in different areas.
  • Ensure all direct reports have a development plan and provide coaching to support achievement of objectives and future professional growth.
  • Maintain positive working relationships among employees and foster an environment where employee engagement, empowerment, teamwork, and accountability are the cultural norm.
  • Provide effective, regular and timely communication to the team and ensure that continuous feedback is given to support team performance.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Science, Pharmacy or Finance

Experience/Technical Skills:

  • Prefer 8 - 10 years relevant experience within Pharmaceutical or other manufacturing industry including:
  • One or more leadership roles in Manufacturing, Technical Operations, Quality Operations, Engineering and/or Production Planning.
  • Prefer experience with Continuous Improvement, Lean Six Sigma methodology and the application of Lean tools.
  • People management experience.
  • Well-versed in applicable regulations and regulatory requirements around Cleaning, Housekeeping, Maintenance, Environmental Control, Process & Equipment Validation, Change Control and Manufacturing Practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in more than one pharmaceutical and/or chemical manufacturing operation (e.g. manufacturing, quality, engineering, etc).
  • High level of stewardship awareness including cGMP, regulatory inspection preparation, and SHE.
  • Demonstrated capability in application of appropriate troubleshooting and problem-solving techniques.
