What The Role Is

You are responsible for managing the exercise science team and to provide strategic vision and guidance for Performance Scientist(s) to optimise soldier performance and readiness in the Army.

What You Will Be Working On

You also oversee the translation of sports science knowledge into practical applications for training, aligning with the organisation’s goals. Your challenge lies in being able to have deep understanding of sports science to effectively develop policies and training programs, enabling the Army to conduct effective training and prevent injuries. You must also manage the complexities of working with multiple organisation and stakeholders, balancing diverse demands to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.

What We Are Looking For

You should possess a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in Exercise Physiology, Sports Science, Kinesiology or a related field. Post-graduate specialisation and a current relevant professional certification credentialed by an independent accreditation agency, e.g. Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA) is preferred. Strong proficiency in both Microsoft Excel and data visualization tool is required. You must have at least 5 years' work-experience in a related field or experience in developing and delivering training program in military or high-performance setting. Having experience working in a multidisciplinary team and teaching experiences is advantageous. Possession of foresight, strategic thinking capabilities, good organisational awareness, strong leadership, and managerial skills is essential. You must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate capacity to operate as both a leader and a team player.
