Job Description

Research Engineer/Fellow position in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at National University of Singapore (NUS). With a strong focus on industrial projects, we are developing our exciting technologies beyond the lab scale. We are seeking a talented and experienced individual with expertise in material chemistry and chemical engineering to join us.

As a Research Engineer/Fellow, you will contribute to industry project focusing on scaling up our electro-metallurgical battery recycling technology from lab to pilot scale. Your major focus will be developing processes to synthesize precursor materials (pCAM) from extracted metallic ions.

  • Lead pCAM synthesis processes at the R&D and pilot scale by working in collaboration with engineering team.
  • Able to establish process design and synthesis rules to obtain precursors with optimal composition, interfacial properties, crystal structure, particle size, morphology, and electrochemical characteristics.

Requirements

  • Master or PhD degree in Materials science and engineering, Chemical engineering, Material chemistry, or any relevant field.
  • Minimum of 2 yrs experience in MHP, pCAM synthesis (precipitation, crystallization).
  • Prior experience in process development at pilot scale and beyond is highly preferred.
  • Experience with material characterization techniques like SEM/EDS, ICP, XRD, FTIR.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience in data analysis and interpretation.
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced academic environment.
