Description

This is an ambitious and rapidly growing energy trading & shipping company. With a significant asset base and diversified business interests across conventional and energy transition, there is now a newly created opportunity for an outstanding Head of Market Risk to lead, manage a large and high performing risk team based in Singapore.

Role
Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, the Head of Market Risk will be responsible for managing all market risk management and middle office functions supporting the Asia business entities. The Head of Market Risk will work to develop, implement market risk management policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Group requirements and best practices. Through the monitoring and analysis of the trading data, the Market Risk team can effectively identify potential risks and opportunities in the energy trading market. Aside from managing a team of experienced risk analysts acting as the 2nd line of defence for daily trading P&L capture, the head of market risk will carry out stress testing, VaR, sensitivity analysis and other risk oversight tools to offer analysis of market conditions. Through active participation via discussions with front office, analytics and other risk functions such as credit, the market risk team will also review trading strategies and embedded optionalities of non-standard transactions.

Requirements
The successful candidate will be degree qualified in finance, engineering, or a statistical discipline, with 15 years' experience in market risk or middle office in energy trading. You will be described as having track record both in managing sizeable market risk teams and leading transformation and change projects. You have excellent problem solving, analytical skills and commercial aptitude, coupled with strong leadership, communication and presentations skills. Due to the size of the team, managerial skills are essential to the success of this role. Programming skills like Python, SQL, Tableau, Matlab will be desirable skills to have.
