The Role: An exceptional opportunity has arisen for a dynamic clinical leader to join the West Coast District Hospital as an Associate Nurse Unit Manager. In this pivotal role, you will work in partnership with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and other senior staff to ensure the efficient and effective provision of care based on best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework. You will assist the NUM with the planning and management of staff and resources, providing operational leadership through the coordination of day-to-day patient care activities, including patient flow. Your responsibilities will include ensuring optimal patient care, maintaining effective communication channels with stakeholders, and promoting a patient-focused model of care according to best practice principles.
We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a deep understanding of rural health nursing and a passion for enhancing patient care. Your role will involve fostering a culture of critical thinking, research, and continuous improvement. You will support the NUM in administrative and service delivery planning, driving innovative initiatives in quality safety programs and clinical practice standards. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be essential in building strong working relationships with staff and the community. Your ability to inspire, influence, and deliver clear messages will help ensure cohesive teamwork and high standards of care. Ideally, you will hold relevant postgraduate qualifications and have experience in Emergency Nursing.

- notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant
- Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Remote and Rural Professional Development Allowance of $3,699 per annum and an additional salary allowance of 10%
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
- Current Registration to Work with Vulnerable People
- Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
