Job Summary:

The Senior Middleware Engineer will be responsible for leading multiple projects on the Technology Infrastructure team within a complex financial organization. The middleware team is responsible for managing a distributed architecture framework hosting mission-critical J2EE internet intranet applications. The ideal candidate will have a background in technical infrastructure management and engineering, with a history of hands-on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Web-based application (Weblogic Server/Portal) server design and build outs for applications and services in a UNIX infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot complex application integration points and coordinate with virtual team members across the enterprise to deliver complex J2EE hosting solutions.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently and be readily adaptable to change. Additionally, this person is expected to be self-motivated, a strong leader, able to influence others, and able to think creatively.
  • Manage and work closely with application teams deploying new applications in the Weblogic and WebSphere hosting environment(s). Able to gather application configuration needs and facilitate changes with administrators and product vendors (when necessary) to resolve technical configuration or application issues.
  • Provide on-call support and work flexible hours as required.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, and 8-10 years of experience supporting Weblogic, JBoss, Tomcat, IBM HTTP Server, Apache, and similar Middleware products (app server) and web servers.
  • Extensive experience in J2EE at the large-scale enterprise system level.
  • Extensive scripting experience in Jython, Python, YAML, and Perl.
  • Extensive experience in Linux/ Unix.
  • Administration of Middleware using tools such as mDeliver, BladeLogic, or similar.
  • Ability to troubleshoot Middleware products using various diagnostic tools.
  • Experience with, and understanding of, peripheral systems (network, load balancing/workload management, application development, operating system), and with monitoring systems (Splunk, Introscope, Sitescope, etc.).
  • Knowledge of industry security baselines.
  • Ability to create documentation for troubleshooting, performance, optimization, and remediation.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both business and technical management.
  • Familiarity with IT Service Management frameworks.
