NTU College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (CoHASS) is a union of four Schools and two Centres – the School of Art, Design and Media (ADM), the School of Humanities (SoH), the School of Social Sciences (SSS), the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information (WKWSCI), the Nanyang Centre for Public Administration (NCPA) and the Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA). We are currently home to more than 6,000 students, as well as faculty, research and administrative staff.
We are looking for a Research Associate who will perform a variety of functions related to research under the supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI).
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in coordinating and running research projects
Work closely with collaborators and third party service providers in conducting research
Help with data collection for projects related to regional geopolitics and geoeconomic trends and developments
Conduct and interpret quantitative and qualitative data analyses for projects and journal publications
Research and writing of short reports on specific developments, trends, patterns in regional affairs
Actively contribute to preparation of manuscript drafts for peer-reviewed journals
Undertake any additional duties as required by the supervisor
Job Requirements:
Masters degree in related field
Extensive media experience as well as the subject interest (Southeast Asian/East Asian politics and/or international relations)
Demonstrated experience in research writing through publications in Asian politics, screen writing, research and journalism
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Experience in quantitative data analysis using relevant statistical tools (e.g. SPSS, AMOS) will be preferred
As this is a research role, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills will be preferred. Given the research scope, being fluent in English and knowing Mandarin will be advantageous.
Highly motivated and willing to work independently in a multidisciplinary setting
Interest in regional security and economics in the Asia-Pacific would be preferred
