Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Import & Export Operations Supervisor/Manager to manage and coordinate all aspects of import and export operations in compliance with international trade regulations. The ideal candidate will have expertise in customs documentation, shipping logistics, and regulatory compliance, ensuring smooth and efficient operations for both imports and exports.
Key Responsibilities:
Import Operations:
Coordinate import shipments, including booking freight, tracking, and managing customs clearance.
Prepare and verify import documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
Ensure compliance with Singapore Customs regulations and other government agency requirements.
Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and shipping lines for timely delivery of goods.
Export Operations:
Plan and execute export shipments, including booking air space and containers, and arranging transportation.
Prepare export documentation, including Airway Bills, bills of lading, export declarations, and shipping instructions.
Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, Free Trade Agreements (FTA), and relevant export controls.
Work closely with overseas agents and customers to ensure smooth shipment handling.
General Operations:
Maintain up to date knowledge of import/export regulations and compliance requirement.
Ensure adherence to trade regulations, HS code classification, and tax/duty assessments.
Apply for necessary permits and certificates as required for import/export goods.
Negotiate rates and services with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.
Monitor performance of service providers to ensure delivery commitments are met.
Resolve any issues or discrepancies related to shipments or customs processes.
Client relationship management
Ability to assist in expanding the import and export client base.
Key Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum 3-4 years of experience in import and export operations, preferably in freight forwarding.
Experience with air, land and sea modes of transportation.
CargoWise experience (Preferred).
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to build and sustain client relations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
EDI experience (Desirable)
Strong attention to detail and good time management.
Accurate and fast data entry skills.
Good organizational skills.
Demonstrated proficiency in computer usage.
Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field (Preferred)
