Business Need / Purpose of Role


The purpose of this key role is to support the procurement and sourcing activities within one of the three Inchcape regions. Working closely with the Regional Procurement Manager, this person will take ownership for procurement and vendor management activities in selected countries in the APAC region and will work directly with multiple stakeholders. This key role is highly commercial, and the person will have direct interaction with customers, internal stakeholders, and senior management.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Supporting the implementation of the regional procurement strategy and ensuring alignment with wider business objectives.
  • Ensuring Group Procurement provides efficient and effective support to the regional business.
  • Supporting the Regional Procurement Manager to ensure competitive vendor rates and a compliant and fit for purpose vendor network.
  • Supporting the indirect procurement strategy to manage internal costs and spend governance.
  • Lead negotiations in the allocated countries with partner agents and vendors across specific direct spend categories such as towage, pilotage, hotels, etc, and indirect when required.
  • Providing stakeholders with relevant vendor pricing information for global and local commercial tenders.
  • Ensuring assigned objectives and KPI’s are achieved, and a consistently high level of service is delivered to internal stakeholders and Inchcape customers.
  • Driving innovation to facilitate efficiencies and to give Inchcape a leading position in the marketplace.
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Representing Inchcape at external customer meetings.
  • Ensuring procurement compliance throughout the organization and global supply chain.
  • Ensure consistent and effective supply chain risk management across the region, including logging and resolving vendor issues, service failures, etc.
  • To manage timely audits of key vendors and partner agents.
  • Educate vendors on the Inchcape business and the Company’s requirements, policies and terms and conditions.
  • Any other duties as required by the Regional Procurement Manager and CPO.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


  • Knowledge and experience of contract and supply chain risk management
  • Experience of vendor auditing
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with key stakeholders and customers across multiple countries and cultures
  • Self-starter and an innovative mindset
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision
  • Strong ethical values and knowledge of supply chain governance and compliance
  • Excellent written and spoken English

Education/Experience:


  • Minimum 3 years previous experience in a mid-management procurement role
  • Experience in or exposure to the maritime industry
  • Experience in managing a team
  • Experience of leading complex tender processes
