You will learn and appreciate different aspects of the business, within one of our business segments to work in upon graduation.

What a Failure Analysis Engineer does at HP:

  • You will be trained in one of these 4 areas such as electrical, material science, chemical analytical, surface science and imaging.
    • In electrical analysis, you will be trained in thermal inkjet wafer thin film delayering, defect localization and e-test assessment.
    • In material science, you will be exposed polymer materials profile and characterization assessment using equipment such as DSC, TGA.
    • In chemical analysis, you will be trained extensively in the critical skillset of sample preparation of ink and analyze the chemical molecular nature via GCMS (volatile organic), LCMS (non volatile organic) or metal element analysis via ICP.
    • In surface science and imaging, utilizing AFM, SWLI, SEM, FIBSEM, XPS are state of the art tools for micro or nano level of wafer surface or detection of wide variety of inkjet materials . We also have 3D imaging equipment to assess the defect in the printhead and/or supplies analysis.
  • You will be able to collaborate closely with Product, Process, NDPI engineering team to troubleshoot quality related issues to the printhead and/or supplies utilizing the above tools. A great environment to prepare you with very good exposure to Thermal Inkjet Product or Process quality issue.
  • On top of that, should there be material changes due to supplier sources selection, regulatory etc, you will have the opportunity to work with materials procurement engineer to device a plan on how to go about to qualify the materials based on the tools options and test methodology available in our lab environment.

Individuals who do well in this role at HP, usually possess:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Material Science, Physics, Electrical and Chemistry.
  • Typically, 0-1 years of experience (fresh graduates).
  • Understanding of fundamental materials knowledge, analysis methodology.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • If you have knowledge in data analytics, Power BI will be an added advantage.
  • Additionally, strong communication and collaboration skills are crucial, as the role demands teamwork and coordination with various departments.
  • Innovation and a proactive attitude towards problem-solving will help you excel and drive the development of cutting-edge manufacturing processes.
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and technologies are also important attributes for success in this dynamic and evolving field.
