PURPOSE AND SCOPE
The Deputy Trading Head is responsible for supporting the Trading Head in overseeing the trading operations, strategy development, risk management, and optimization of market positions in power and gas markets. The incumbent will play a pivotal role in the execution of trading decisions, managing team performance, and ensuring compliance with market regulations. The role also involves fostering a culture of innovation, driving business development projects, and enhancing operational efficiency.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Trading Strategy and Execution: Assist the Trading Head in formulating and executing trading strategies, optimizing positions, and ensuring the timely execution of market operations for power and gas.
- Market Analysis and Decision-Making: Lead market analysis to identify trading opportunities, assess risks, and make informed decisions that align with the company’s objectives to maximize profitability and minimize exposure.
- Team Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and develop the trading team. Foster a collaborative and high-performance environment, ensuring the team meets trading goals and adheres to best practices.
- Risk Management: Implement and monitor risk management policies, ensuring that trading activities remain within the company’s risk appetite and comply with regulatory standards.
- Operational Oversight: Ensure seamless daily market operations, including settlement, verification, and gas nominations. Ensure the timely resolution of operational issues and maintain strong coordination with relevant stakeholders.
- Business Development and Optimization: Drive innovation and contribute to the development of new business opportunities, optimization strategies, and process improvements aimed at enhancing trading performance and operational efficiency.
- Stakeholder Management: Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including market operators, regulators, and counterparts, to ensure smooth market operations and resolve issues as they arise.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all trading activities comply with market rules, regulations, and internal policies. Stay abreast of changes in the regulatory landscape and implement necessary adjustments to trading strategies and operations.
- Reporting and Documentation: Oversee the generation of reports on market positions, trading performance, and compliance. Ensure accurate and timely reporting to senior management and other stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Educational Background: A degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in power and gas trading, with at least 2–3 years in a leadership role. Experience in market operations, risk management, and business development is essential.
- Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of power and gas markets, trading strategies, and the regulatory environment, particularly in Singapore or similar markets.
