Let’s talk about the role

As a Manager AI/ML, you will oversee the development and deployment of production-grade generative AI applications while managing and guiding a team of engineers. You foster a culture where best practices, including test-driven development, model benchmarking, and development guardrails, are a part of the development process. In this role, you’ll work closely with management, product teams, and delivery functions to ensure alignment with organizational objectives. You will play a key role in facilitating the adoption of generative AI across the organization by consulting with product teams and communicating technical concepts to a variety of stakeholders to ensure diverse perspectives and all considerations are accounted for.

  • Manage and mentor a team of machine learning engineers, providing guidance on project prioritization, best practices, and career development.
  • Foster a team culture that is inclusive, engaging, and encourages collaboration.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders from product management, delivery management, and engineers to ensure the successful deployment of scalable AI products.
  • Oversee the development and deployment of scalable, production-grade AI applications.
  • Foster an environment of continuous learning and improvement, encouraging your team to explore and implement cutting-edge generative AI products.
  • Develop and maintain best practices, guardrails, and benchmarks for AI across the team by developing team processes and driving accountability.
  • Facilitate design and strategy sessions to address complex AI challenges and align efforts with business goals while focussing on inclusive design and accounting for accessibility.
  • Work with senior management to ensure alignment on project roadmaps, timelines, and resourcing.

Let's talk about qualifications and experience

Required:

  • Either: Master's or PhD in computer science, data science, or a related field and 3+ years of industry experience OR: Bachelor’s and 5+ years of experience in machine learning engineering or data science, with proven management or team leadership experience.
  • Extensive experience managing machine learning systems, including data pipelines, model training, and inference workflows.
  • Advanced experience in Python and cloud platforms like AWS, with a solid track record of deploying ML models in production environments.
  • Strong understanding of natural language processing (NLP) techniques, including feature engineering and modeling.
  • Experience in managing machine learning or engineering team members, with the ability to guide team members through project execution, prioritization, and development.
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders, ensuring alignment on project goals and strategy.

Preferred, but not necessary:

  • Experience with infrastructure tools like Terraform and familiarity with DevOps best practices (model monitoring, observability).
  • Previous experience with generative AI applications.
  • Strong knowledge of architectural design patterns for scalable machine learning solutions.
