What Product Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health

Engineering is responsible for performing research and analyses to develop design options for components, products, systems and processes.

Product Engineering is responsible for developing iterations, modifying, implementing and supporting existing products that function within the product families through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices.

Job Summary

The Senior Product Engineer provides technical support to manufacturing, marketing, and R&D by completion of assigned projects designed to reduce costs, modify materials, products and processes. Leads projects oriented to cost reduction, product development and supply chain opportunities. This will include activities such as developing protocols/reports for production equivalency validation, design validation and design verification. Perform assessments in conjunction with Marketing, Regulatory, Packaging and Sterilization departments. Review and update current product/package specifications. Work directly with Cardinal Health suppliers on a daily basis, responsible for analyzing and assessing supplier processes to determine process capability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop project plans and timing with supervisor for assigned projects; makes revisions as required.

  • Direct product design and re-design efforts as assigned by supervisor.

  • Coordinate implementation of new products or materials

  • Direct material evaluation and qualification as required.

  • Support Operational Excellence projects as required.

  • Continuously communicate status of projects and programs with regard to timing, objectives, and roadblocks

  • Able to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.

  • Manage the relationships with suppliers to ensure full alignment of technologies and products requirements.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in Product, Equipment or Process Engineering in the medical device or equivalent experience in related field, including 1+ years in multi-national company.

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Non-Woven, Biomedical, Mechanical engineering, Chemical, or Material Science or equivalent.

  • Able to work with various cultures and travel within Asia in short notice.

  • Good communication skills in English, both verbal and written. (If not in China, speaking of Mandarin is preferred, as the role needs to work with China counterpart and suppliers.)
