Responsibilities:

We are a large producer of palm oil which has a successful and established trading team. Our business span across a broad range of business lines, with a global reach and extensive asset network to serve our customers and consumers around the world. The company has a strong and modern culture and is looking for someone with 10 years plus analyst experience in palm oil.

You will part of the Market research team for which you will play a crucial role in forecasting and analysing key supply and demand developments to forecast soft commodity prices. As a Market research Lead, you will generate market insights and outlooks by closely analysing data related to supply and demand and collaborate with our commercial team to drive strategic decisions.

The key role of the Market Research Lead is to provide insights by way of navigating and interpreting complex market dynamics. This involves accurately forecasting supply and demand amidst fluctuating market conditions, policy changes, and global economic shifts. To be successful in this role, the incumbent need to possess strong analytical skills as well as the ability to synthesize vast amounts of data into actionable insights so as to contribute towards timely and strategic decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

Data Management & Forecasting:

• Together with a team, maintain accurate and up-to-date Supply and Demand (SnD) data for palm oil, lauric oil, and other soft commodities and their derivatives, reflecting current market conditions. Compile and update relevant data components to anticipate market trends, ensuring data integrity and reliability. Deliverables include timely SnD reports, market trend analysis, forecasts, and data-driven recommendations for business decision-making.

Market Analysis:

• Genuine interest in global economics and commodities markets. Stay informed on market trends, policies, and currency fluctuations affecting supply and demand.
• Transform this information into actionable market insights and adjust SnD outlooks accordingly.
• Ability to manage data and summarizing large quantity of data into key/actionable insights
• Ability to analyze trends, data, and numbers to draw meaningful conclusions and write comprehensive reports
• Willingness to participate in field surveys to collect observations
• Know how to communicate/explain complex ideas in a simple way
• Ability to use various models of forecasting such as Quantitative, Econometric models.

Global Coordination:

• Monitor supply and demand flows across different destinations. Coordinate with team members to ensure accurate representation of data.

Communication & Reporting:

• Effectively communicate key changes in supply and demand to commercial teams.
• Synthesize and present insights to help stakeholders understand market dynamics and swing factors.

Job Specifications

Experience:

• At least 10 years of experience in agricultural or commodity market research, with a focus on palm oil or similar commodities.
• Strong background in supply and demand analysis, market forecasting, and price modeling.
• Experience in quantitative analysis and market modeling to drive strategic decision-making.

Skills:

• Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in Excel and business intelligence and data analysis tools.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to distill complex market insights into clear, actionable reports and presentations.
