RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Independently conduct sustainability analyses such as life cycle assessments at product and process level, for sites or innovation projects, also on group and portfolio level in accordance with relevant standards and specifications.

  • Operationalizing sustainability through implementing measures e.g. technical, organizational, communicative

  • Establishment, further development and implementation of sustainability competencies, especially in the field of sustainability metrics

  • Continuous advancement of sustainability at Evonik

  • Further development of methods and processes for recording, analyzing, automating, evaluating and reducing greenhouse gas emissions as well as other sustainability indicators

  • Advising and supporting internal stakeholders

  • Support of audit processes as part of external testing and certification

  • Understanding and tracking and evaluating the development of relevant standards (e.g. Legal requirements, GHG Protocol, ISO, …)

  • Participation in internal and external working groups and committees

  • Identification of savings potentials and development of measures and strategies to increase sustainability performance

REQUIREMENTS

  • Successfully completed master's degree or diploma, preferably with PhD, in the field of chemistry, industrial engineering / chemistry, technical chemistry, process engineering with with a very strong focus on sustainability or corresponding adjacent courses of study

  • Knowledge in material and energy balancing

  • Knowledge of the relevant standards, including legal requirements as well as methods and tools for greenhouse gas accounting

  • Basic knowledge of extensive data collection, processing, interpretation and relevant tools (e.g. SAP, KNIME, PowerBi, ESG tools)

  • Knowledge in life cycle assessment or other sustainability metrics

  • Knowledge of life cycle assessment software tools and databases in the field of sustainability is particularly desirable

  • English language skills

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills and you enjoy proactively building personal networks

  • A high degree of initiative and flexibility combined with an analytical, open and responsible way of thinking as well as fun in developing creative solutions also outside the boundaries of chemistry

  • Willingness to travel occasionally on national and international business trips
