The overall objective of the Safety Engineer is to promote a strong safety culture by providing safety expertise and ensuring that management systems are established and effectively used to maintain compliance. The ideal candidate will have the ability to adapt in a fast paced, changing environment and must have a desire to learn complex and complicated processes while implementing streamlined solutions related to safety program oversight. A safety engineer must possess strong organizational skills, have the ability to build professional relationships with numerous inter-dependent teams of different disciplines and communicate effectively.
Work with the site to drive and facilitate a strong Safety culture.
Support the site Safety Operations utilizing appropriate knowledge to mitigate operational hazards through evaluation of Risk Assessments, Permit to work, Equipment Safety Review and Sign-off, site inspections and finding closure, Audit (Regulatory, Customer, ISO, Insurance, and others) administration as well as other tasks when needed.
Take ownership to ensure proper implementation of the site Safety Case Regime and Major Hazards Installation programs
Implementation of licenses and permit systems with wide range of government agencies.
Maintains comprehensive knowledge of government safety/fire safety regulations.
Manage Safety programs at the site, assist with the development and implementation of site specific safety procedures.
Work with site groups and management to help ensure timely and complete root cause investigations of all safety incidents, as well as timely and sustainable closure of all assigned corrective actions.
Educate site personnel on safety requirements and standards.
Provide coaching and professional development to all employees to maintain safety excellence at the facility.
Review safety data and analyze for trends. Work with site personnel to develop actions plans based on the data.
Participate and/or lead portions of EHS self-assessments and/or audits.
Assist or administer safety committee meetings as part of a team and in partnership with top management
Create systems through PowerBI or PowerApps to support digital transformation and departmental efficiency.
Assists with field industrial hygiene field measurements and safety evaluations as needed.
Assesses work place for occupational hazards by observing work conditions, assessing records, conducting interviews, sampling, performing inspections, and monitoring chemical or physical agents
Executes field audits in conjunction with internal and external stakeholders.
Prepares accurate and complete technical reports of survey findings, and provides recommendations on how to correct hazardous conditions
Participate and/or lead investigations of EHS incidents, with supporting Root Cause Analysis and follow up
Assists in development and delivery of occupational safety and health training
Skill in administering and maintaining Health and Safety Programs
Assists with Emergency Response program as needed
Knowledge and experience in interpreting IH monitoring and sampling events, awareness of approved methods, procedures, and techniques used in collecting and testing sample as dusts, mists, fumes, vapors, noise, non-ionizing radiation, cold, and heat stress and biological agents. Experience with conducting ergonomic assessments in both an office as well as in a manufacturing setting.
English Proficiency in both verbal and written communication
Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.
