The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (SPMS) at NTU Singapore hosts research and education activities in two divisions: Division of Mathematical Sciences (MAS) and Division of Physics and Applied Physics (PAP). MAS covers diverse topics ranging from pure mathematics to the applications of mathematics in cryptography, computing, business, and finance. PAP covers many areas of fundamental and applied physics, including quantum information, condensed matter physics, biophysics, and photonics. Over the years, SPMS has attracted talented individuals from around the world and Singapore to join as scientific leaders and researchers.
Join the laboratory of Yijie Shen at SPMS as we are seeking a Research Assistant to support and advance research projects in the field of optical science. This includes conducting experiments, analyzing data, and developing innovative solutions related to optical systems, components, or phenomena. This work contributes to the development of cutting-edge technologies in areas like photonics, imaging, and optical communication.
Key Responsibilities:
Research Support: Assist in designing and executing experiments, including data collection and analysis.
Administrative Duties: Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation for research projects.
Technical Tasks: Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
Collaboration: Coordinate with team members and collaborators.
Compliance and Ethics: Ensure adherence to research protocols, ethical guidelines, and safety standards
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s (for PO and Research Assistant equivalent) degree in Optics discipline or related field
At least 1 years of relevant experience in similar role / technical hands-on experience in the optical field
Good written and oral communication skills
Proficiency in hard skills / job-specific abilities acquired through training e.g. specific programming languages, numeric and analytical skill
Interpersonal skills (e.g. Ability to work independently / develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous and eye for details / excellent organizational / time management skills)
