Working Location: Tuas Shipyard
As a Senior Purchasing Executive is pivotal in efficiently operating the shipyard's procurement activities. This position is responsible for leading a team of purchasing professionals, overseeing the purchasing process, negotiating with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of materials and equipment required for shipbuilding projects, managing tight budgets, and ensuring a reliable and efficient supply chain to support construction and maintenance activities.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Managing a team of purchasing professionals: This includes setting goals, delegating tasks, providing feedback, and evaluating performance.
Developing and implementing purchasing strategies: Develop procurement strategies aligned to the shipyard’s goals and objectives. Monitoring market trends and industry developments to make informed purchasing decisions.
Supplier management: Identify, evaluate and select suppliers based on quality, reliability and cost-effectiveness, and managing supplier relationships.
Contract management: Negotiate contracts, pricing, conditions and terms to achieve cost savings and meet quality standards. Draft and review contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements.
Ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services: This includes placing orders, tracking deliveries, and resolving any issues.
Maintaining compliance with all purchasing policies and procedures: This includes ensuring that all purchases are authorised and approved, and that all documentation is complete and accurate.
Collaboration and coordination: Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the shipyard to ensure that the purchasing function supports the overall business goals and communicates effectively with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
Risk management: Identify and mitigate potential risks related to procurement, including supply chain disruptions and quality issues.
Continuous improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the purchasing department to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
3 - 5 years of experience leading a procurement or supply chain management team, with a track record of progressively increasing responsibility.Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations in the shipbuilding &/or shipyard industry.
Preferably proficiency in procurement software, Microsoft Office applications and SAP systems.
At least Diploma in supply chain management, business, or a related field.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent negotiation, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
