Job Description

As an Engineering Manager, you will leverage your leadership and people management skills to drive a team of engineers in re-designing products and processes to enhance quality, profitability, and production efficiency. Your role will focus on continuous improvement, implementing and maintaining control systems to identify and address improvement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage Operational Excellence projects, including value engineering activities, to deliver strategic improvements aligned with business objectives.

  • Streamline procedures and processes to enhance manufacturing efficiency, supporting the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and tools.

  • Develop strategies and multi-year plans for new product introductions and supply chain optimization through lean philosophy.

  • Collaborate with management, production, and R&D teams to discuss product specifications and project feasibility.

  • Streamline and implement technical supply base strategies for manufacturing operation (current running products and NPIs). Work closely with various departments, including procurement, production, and logistics, to ensure seamless integration and coordination across the supply chain. Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions and ensure business continuity.

  • Supplier Management in collaboration with global procurement team in establshing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, negotiate favorable terms, and ensure timely delivery of materials and components.

  • Leverage advanced technologies and tools (digitalization) to enhance supply chain visibility.

  • Recruit, mentor, and evaluate engineering staff, ensuring the development and maintenance of their competence.

  • Oversee new product development, including design, testing, and changes, and define manufacturing facilities and equipment requirements.

  • Allocate and manage engineering resources to optimize performance and efficiency.

  • Develop and implement standards and procedures for supply chain, engineering and technical work in production.

  • Perform administrative functions such as report writing, expenditure approvals, and decision-making on materials, equipment, and services.

  • Present proposals, reports, and findings to management for investment and value engineering projects.

  • Supervise and lead engineers in product design and manufacturing process improvements, overseeing production yield and cycle time.

  • Provide leadership and coaching to ensure continuous improvement in manufacturing processes and design, using DMAIC methodology and Lean Six Sigma tools.

  • Identify process improvements, track performance and trends, and implement strategies to maximize business performance.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience: BS in Engineering with 10+ years of experience or MS in Engineering with 8+ years of experience, including 5+ years in complex engineering management.

  • Technical Expertise: Experience in managing engineering programs for sophisticated systems or equipment, with strong knowledge of manufacturing and supply chain processes.

  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage multi-national engineering teams and multiple complex projects simultaneously.

  • Problem-Solving: Skilled in identifying, scoping, and resolving engineering problems across design, development, manufacturing, and support phases.

  • Continuous Improvement: Demonstrated experience in driving continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma tools.

  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to understand and optimize team dynamics.

  • Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in MS Project, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.

  • Digital Capability: Hands-on experience with digital tools and transformation (hardware and software automation).

  • Additional Skills: Track records/hands-on experience in value engineering projects, familiarity with electronics, robotic systems, module and instrument testing along with programming knowledge e.g. FPGA coding, C#/pythons/JavaScript, digital architecture, will be added advantage.

This job has a full time weekly schedule. It includes the option to work remotely. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
