Title: Chapter Lead – EventHub

The cloud movement at CommBank is going strong and continues to grow. We’re looking for out of the box thinkers who want to use technology to work on real-world problems that have the potential to change the lives of our 17 million+ customers.
The successful applicant will join a team tasked to manage the Event Streaming Platform for the bank. On-prem and in Cloud. You will be expected to continuously improve the services through DevOps model, provision infrastructure and ensure the platform is running 24*7.
The Chapter Lead acts as an Engineering Manager and is accountable for leading a team of Systems Engineers and will have around 6-10 direct reports.
Roles & responsibilities:
Ensure the platform is running24/7 and respond to incidents as needed.
Design and build all aspects of an enterprise platform, e.g. tooling, CI/CD, Security, Observability.
Coach other engineers to uplift the engineering quality and velocity.
Share engineering knowledge through presentation, blogs, videos with the broader engineering community.
Collaborate with Product Owner and team to create relevant engineering roadmaps.
Essential skills:
Developing the technical, interpersonal and leadership skills of the Engineering teams in a structured way.
Contributing to thought leadership on Systems Engineering best practices.
Promoting CBA and developing our value proposition as a Systems Engineering employer of choice.
Have a strong track record with leading technology teams and uplifting engineering culture.
Looking for 12+ Years of Experience.
Have good system design/architecture knowledge.
Possesses hands-on technical experience in AWS
Have good understanding of Docker container and Kubernetes technology.
API development and integrations.
Is familiar with various scripting/programming languages such as Python, Rust (for code review)
Is experienced with tools like version control systems, CI/CD, IaC frameworks.
Solid understanding of Data Streaming technology, more specifically Apache Kafka and/or Confluent.
Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in engineering in Computer Science/Information Technology.
