Role overview:
Our summer associate will be working with the Power Team, which engages in trading electricity in the short-term markets. The energy sector faces constant changes due to the ongoing increase in renewables, the phase-out of fossil energy, changes in regulation, and the growing share of algorithmic trading. Consequently, curiosity, adaptability and foresight are essential skills to stay ahead in this space. The associate is therefore expected to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment and contribute meaningfully to the team’s performance. You will be exposed to a steep learning curve through our mentorship program and will take responsibility from the start. This position offers a unique blend of analytical challenges and real-world business experience, ideal for someone eager to make an impact in the commodity trading space.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor market conditions, including prices, supply and demand dynamics, and regulatory changes
- Assist with analysis projects, prototyping and back-testing quantitative models
- Collaborate with other team members to develop market forecasts and trading strategies
- Participate in the development of innovative trading tools
Qualifications and requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or STEM related field, with a strong academic record and flair for numbers.
- Programming experience in Python in the context of data analysis, with the ability to test ideas and models
- Knowledge of statistics, including time series analysis and regressions
- Problem solving skills and ability to identify and implement appropriate solutions

- Strong passion and interest in career in trading, analytics, or energy
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, strong work ethics and a proactive attitude
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Fluent in English and either Chinese or Japanese
