UWCSEA East is looking for a Teacher of Economics and Business Management from August 2025.
The appointee will ideally be able to teach IBDP Economics, our bespoke UWC Economics course which is designed for grade 9 and 10 students, and potentially IBDP Business Management at UWCSEA East Campus. Experience and enthusiasm for teaching the IB Diploma Theory of Knowledge would be an advantage but is not essential.
Main Responsibilities
Teachers will:
- Contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the Economics/Business Department, Humanities Faculty and broader High School teams.
- Construct learning experiences that challenge students, support the diversity of learners in each classroom and demonstrate a strong commitment to concept-based teaching and learning.
- Ensure that assessments support ongoing learning and provide timely, relevant and appropriate feedback to students formatively and summatively.
- Demonstrate effective classroom management that shows an understanding of the academic, social and emotional dimensions and needs of learners.
- Keep parents informed about the learning of their children and be proactive in communicating with parents.

Person Specifications
- A degree within the sphere of Economics/Business and a teaching qualification are prerequisites.
- Experience or interest in curriculum development is advantageous.
- Extensive experience of teaching IBDP Economics and in supporting the learning of G9 and 10 students with regard to Economics.
- Experience of teaching IBDP Business Management would be desirable.
- An ability to engage with students and to engender enthusiasm for learning. This is a prerequisite for teaching at UWCSEA.
- Willing and eager to participate in the five key elements of a UWCSEA education: Academic; Personal & Social Education; Service; Activities; Outdoor Education.
- Enthusiasm to participate in Professional Development, both that which is mandated by the College and that which is identified by the teacher.
- Pastoral leadership of a mentor group in Grades 9-12.
- On average, an annual contribution of two sessions per week to Activities and/or Service projects.
- Participation in the curricular Outdoor Education experiences which are relevant to their students and a willingness to occasionally volunteer for Outdoor Education trips during school holidays.
- Enthusiasm for teaching within a multicultural environment.
- Flexibility of approach and a collaborative style are essential.
- A commitment to diversity and inclusion alongside a willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of our range of learners
