Role Summary:

Singapore headquartered company looking for a mid-level lawyer to support Pacific Energy’s legal requirements, including various large-scale gas/LNG and renewable energy projects (ongoing and in the pipeline) and negotiation of LNG SPAs. The role will be to provide legal support for these projects, including managing any disputes, and will also be responsible for providing sound and efficient general legal advisory services to the business, and ensure effective management of legal and contractual risks for the Pacific Energy business group.

1.Major Gas/LNG and Renewable Energy Contracts and LNG SPA Drafting, Review and Negotiation

  • Drafting, review and negotiation of contracts, including relating to major gas/LNG and renewable energy projects and LNG SPAs.

  • Drafting, reviewing, negotiating and advising on a variety of engineering, procurement and construction-related contracts.

  • Provide legal support and advice throughout the entire life cycle of large-scale projects: NDAs, bidding/ tendering, contract negotiations and execution phase of large-scale projects (e.g. responding to variation and extension of time claims, claim for liquidated damages etc.).

  • Provide sound advice on possible legal risks and provide mitigation solutions for various issues.

2. Handle a broad range of general corporate and commercial matters such as drafting, reviewing and negotiating various types of contracts with a view to providing legal advice in order to finalise contracts while protecting the interests of the company.

3. Conduct of Arbitration, Litigation & Disputes Management: Strategise and manage disputes, contentious/litigious matters with external counsel and Pacific Energy group management team.

4. Any ad hoc projects as required.

5. Ensure that internal group legal policies and guidelines are understood and implemented; providing training to internal clients and colleagues.

Requirements:

To be successful in this role, it is recommended that you should have the following skills and qualifications:

  • LL.B or equivalent Singapore, English or common-law country qualified lawyer from a reputable university.
  • Minimum 6 – 10 years PQE, with solid track record / prior experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts relating to gas/LNG and renewable energy projects and LNG SPAs.
  • Experience in handling infrastructure project disputes / claims and dispute resolution processes. Experience in working on large-scale projects in the SEA region will be an advantage.
  • Must have a strong academic record, analytical and research skills. Experience gained either from a reputable international law firm, or in-house position in a multinational company is highly desirable. Candidates with international experience are preferred.
  • Exposed to regional work and diverse business operations.
  • Mature, resilient, high energy, able to relate with senior management and provide sound legal advice.
  • Must be able to deal with a demanding internal client base, including being able to prioritize, handle multiple matters effectively and meeting tight deadlines when required.
  • Must be self-motivated, have initiative, problem-solve, take ownership of deals with the ability to work independently, and yet be a strong team player.
  • Must have effective communication and interpersonal skills, be quick thinking, meticulous and commercially- minded.
  • Hands – on, attention to details and adaptable. Able to work and interact with various cultures.
