- Plan, implement, and maintain SMU's enterprise and research infrastructure (HPC), including private and public cloud computing, as well as all relevant research hardware to meet SMU's diverse research computing needs.
- Plan, formulate, and architect the growth of research infrastructure (HPC) to cater to the needs of SMU researchers, enhancing faculty productivity in research.
- Manage and administer of CMDB system to ensure the completeness and currency of asset information.
- Develop, maintain, and execute system operation procedures (e.g., IT Disaster Recovery) to improve service availability, reliability, and redundancy.
- Consultancy and Support
- Collaborate with business units to gain a better understanding of their goals, technical requirements, and current infrastructure.
- Develop tailored cloud solutions that align with business requirements, focusing on scalability, reliability, security, and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide support to business units in their Cloud project initiatives.
- Troubleshoot issues, resolve technical challenges, and deliver ongoing support after post-implementation.
- Conduct induction programs to raise awareness of cloud computing and research platforms within the SMU community. Develop presentations, documentation, and user guides for individuals utilizing cloud computing services and High-Performance Computing Clusters (HPCC).
- Projects
- Manage IT projects for existing system enhancement and new system implementation.
- Establish project plans, milestones, and deliverables.
- Monitor project progress and review project performance against key metrics.
- Maintain a risk tracker and mitigation plan.
- Provide status updates and reports on project progress.
- Provide leadership and motivation to the project team.
- Manage expectations and address concerns proactively.
- Ensure the project is kept within the project scope, budget, and timeline.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation throughout the project life cycle.
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, IT or equivalent from an established Institution
- Relevant Cloud platform certifications (e.g. AWS Certified Solution Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert) are a plus.
- Relevant Linux System Administration certifications (e.g. Red Hat Certified System Administrator) are a plus.
- At least 5 years of work experience with Cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure Cloud.
- Proficient in Cloud computing concepts, architectures, and service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS);
- Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including their services and features;
- Networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, and routing in cloud environments;
- Cloud security principles, encryption, identity and access management (IAM), and compliance requirements;
- Cloud platform monitoring, logging, and alerting tools to ensure the performance and reliability of cloud resources;
- Infrastructure provisioning and management tools like Terraform and CloudFormation.
- Working knowledge of DevOps methodologies, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and automation tools;
- Containerization technologies such as Docker and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes;
- Cloud-based storage solutions, databases, and data analytics platforms.
- Proficient in performing Linux server cluster administration;
- Scripting languages, including Python and Bash, with the ability to automate tasks and enhance workflow efficiency;
- ServiceNow CMDB administration.
- Working knowledge of ISO27001 information security standards, regulatory compliance, and best practices for Cloud governance.
- Strong technical, analytical, and troubleshooting skills, with confidence in delivering frontline support and expertise across diverse academic disciplines and areas.
