As a Test Engineer, your primary purpose is to drive quality, yield, and productivity improvements. You will manage the new product release to manufacturing and address any problems affecting the smooth operation of parts. You are responsible for all testing activities related to the transfer of new testers from the design center to the manufacturing plant, including working with the design team to qualify new test systems and propose test limits. Your role also involves sourcing and assembling tester components locally, setting up, and debugging test software and hardware.
Our Team
You will be part of the Data-Com and Specialty Solutions Division, reporting to a Senior Engineer, Principal Engineer, or Department Manager. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with a variety of contacts, including assembly subcontractors, vendors, suppliers, QA Engineers, and Product Design Engineers. This teamwork ensures the seamless integration of innovative solutions and product designs in production processes.
What You Will Do
- Responsible for all testing activities related to new tester transfer from design center to manufacturing plant. Work with design team qualifying new test system, proposing test limit.
- Sourcing, assembling all tester components locally, set up and debugging test software and hardware.
- Tester maintenance for on-line/off-line High-Performance testers, Cirris, BERT, OCR, Robert, etc.
- Perform electrical testing, high speed tester support used in the manufacturing of High-Speed cable assemblies based on standards such as Ethernet, Infiniband, Fibre Channel, PCIe, SAS, SATA, etc.
- Integration of custom designed circuit boards and mechanical fixtures with off-the-shelf test equipment such as digital sampling oscilloscopes, TDR modules and network analyzers.
- Integrate software upgrades into high-speed test systems. Work closely with design centers on software improvement feedback to improvise the system for better solutions.
- Perform electrical testing of High-Speed cable assemblies, analyze test data using statistical modeling tools, identify critical to quality aspects of product design and manufacturing process, perform root cause / corrective action analysis, and provide reports to summarize findings.
- Work closely with multifunctional teams to upgrade globally deployable automated production test systems for cable assembly products. Maintain records for project execution, schedule, and budget. System design includes activities such as mechanical fixture design, PCB design, hardware integration, software development, system documentation, performance testing and characterization, etc.
- Create and execute test plans, conduct software reviews, perform system verification and validation, analyze, and resolve failure modes and document the results.
- Create product and test system documentation, specification, and work instructions
- Introduction of new solutions / technologies in the design of production processes.
- Adherence to procedures related to system management of quality, health, safety and environmental.
- Perform work in accordance with the standards of personal and professional integrity as described in the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct. To comply to PBM Guiding Principles for the job carry out under his responsibility.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by Management.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Possess a degree or diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Production Engineering, Systems, or Computer fields.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with test equipment and measuring instruments.
- Proficient in compiled programming languages such as C/C++ or VB/C# within the Microsoft .NET framework.
- Skilled in using scripted programming languages like Python.
- Strong analytical ability to apply logical reasoning, test assumptions, observe results, and make corrections.
What Will Put You Ahead
- 2-5 years of progressive engineering experience with a robust understanding of high-speed testing and design.
- Extensive experience with RF/microwave test and measurement equipment such as digital sampling oscilloscopes, TDR modules, and network analyzers.
- Knowledge of RF/microwave transmission line theory, including s-parameters, Fourier transforms, and characteristic impedance.
- Experience with relational databases using software like Microsoft SQL or MySQL.
- Exposure to RF/microwave circuit design and PCB layout with tools like Mentor Graphics PADS or Cadence Allegro, and familiarity with advanced PCB fabrication methods.
- Training in Lean/Six Sigma methodologies with an understanding and application of tools such as control charts, process capability, and gage R&R.
