NAT’s mission is to develop the Integrated Organic Optoelectronic for Biosensor Application. To achieve this mission, NAT is carrying out many concurrent research projects with top research institutions both locally and overseas.
Are you passionate about creating disruptive innovations that will shape the future of Southeast Asia’s emerging markets? We are seeking a visionary and entrepreneurial Business Development Strategist to lead our efforts in discovering, designing, and launching groundbreaking businesses across Southeast Asia. This is a newly created position.
As part of our fast-growing team, you will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, leading market research, and collaborating with our talented engineering team to turn ideas into reality. This role offers the exciting opportunity to impact the region’s dynamic economies while playing a key role in the expansion of our company’s presence throughout Southeast Asia.
You will:
- Drive the end-to-end development of new business initiatives, from ideation to launch, with a focus on scalability across Southeast Asia.
- Conduct thorough market research, identify trends, and analyze opportunities within various industries across Southeast Asia, adapting strategies to different cultural and economic contexts.
- Collaborate closely with our engineering and product teams to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs and align with our overall business goals.
- Build strong business models, define the go-to-market strategy, and ensure successful execution and market penetration.
- Lead the validation process through testing prototypes and gathering customer feedback, iterating on ideas to ensure product-market fit.
- Establish partnerships with local stakeholders, investors, and key players across Southeast Asia to support business growth and regional expansion.
- Manage and track project performance, financials, and key metrics to ensure the business meets its targets and delivers impact across the region.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Experience: Proven experience in business development, new business creation, or entrepreneurship, particularly in Southeast Asia or similar emerging markets. Experience in tech startups or innovative industries is highly valued.
- Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of Southeast Asia’s economic, social, and business landscapes, with the ability to navigate diverse markets and adapt strategies accordingly.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with experience in market research, competitor analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
- Innovation-Driven: Passion for innovation and the ability to translate complex ideas into actionable business strategies. Experience in product development or service design is a plus.
- Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineers, product managers, and external partners. Strong communication and leadership skills are a must.
- Entrepreneurial Mindset: Self-starter who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments. Willing to take ownership of projects and drive them forward with limited oversight.
- Cultural Sensitivity: Ability to work across different cultural contexts in Southeast Asia, building relationships and partnerships that respect local nuances.
- Languages: Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in regional languages (e.g., Japanese, Mandarin, Bahasa, Thai, or Vietnamese) is an advantage.
- Flexibility: Willingness to travel across Southeast Asia to meet partners, conduct market research, and oversee projects on-site.
- Internal alignment: Our HQ is in Japan. Internal alignment experience with Japanese company are needed
- Education: A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics or equivalent.
