Responsible for cargo documentation and payment tracking, laytime calculations and demurrage claims, counter party risk management. Key duties and responsibilities include:
- Issue and update cargo documentation, checking Charter Party’s and bills of lading
- Invoicing and follow up with cargo suppliers & receivers on settlements
- Perform laytime calculations for suppliers, receivers and shipowners, and issue and negotiate demurrage claims
- To respond counter proposals of demurrage claims as per sales and/or purchase contracts as well as Charter Party clauses, negotiate in the best interest of the company and settlement of demurrage claims in the most effective manner.
- Payment tracking for all counter party invoice payments
- Monitor and update internal customer database
- Monitor daily vessel movements and coordinate with shipowners and broker to ensure smooth vessel operation throughout entire voyage.
- Maintain relevant day-to-day databases.
- Work closely with multiple operators to deliver excellent customer service to counterparties.
- Handling of freight, demurrage, claims payments as per contractual agreements.
- Ensure voyage accounts are accurate and balanced.
- Managing and recovering outstanding funds from counterparts.
- Reconciling all counterparties’ accounts, including but not limited to Owners, Suppliers, Receivers, etc.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Maritime, Business, Accounts, or other related fields.
- Strong knowledge of Charter-Party, Sales Contract and/or previous working experience in a similar position.
- Good communication skills – spoken and written English.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work well under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
