Position Responsibilities:

  • To manage and be responsible for site automation system including ABB 800xa system and control builder programming and Schneider quantum proworx 32 programming, industrial network design and maintenance, Mware and server/workstation and Fix32 database and graphics design/MES/DCS/SCADA/PLC as well as label applicator and ABB Robotic palletizer machine.
  • Carry out automation and control implementation activities for plant modifications, capital projects and other identified plant improvement projects in line with defined specifications, budget and qualification of facilities in accordance with site to approved procedures.
  • Provide specialized advice to other sections and subordinates for trouble shooting/continuous improvement to process/systems.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance measures (including safety) within their specific discipline to ensure inspection readiness of plant, as well as participate as an audit team member in the conduct of audits.
  • Supervise, develop and motivate junior staff to help realize their maximum potential to contribute towards achieving objectives of the department.
  • Contribute to the development of the annual operating budget of the section to ensure achievement operational targets of section.
  • Responsible for planning and implementing plant automation maintenance, managing of engineering resources during maintenance plan schedule and prompt resolution of breakdowns, including engaging external assistance.
  • To support the development of facility master plan to ensure compliance to engineering standards, management of obsolescence and asset replacement.
  • Monitor and manage the defined automation system to ensure constant and reliable automation control to the plant to minimize disruption to the production process.
  • To support customer complaints and deviation investigations to ensure that all relevant engineering corrective actions are completed within the agreed timeline.

To be successful in the role, the incumbent should have the following qualities:

  • Good honours degree in the relevant engineering discipline
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in the process/food industry
  • PLC (ABB 800xA, Scheider and Siemens)
  • Basic awareness of industrial standards
  • Good understanding of local codes and requirements
  • Hold work experience in Microsoft Windows
  • Good knowledge in Control systems both in maintenance and plant commissioning.
