ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the CEO you will be responsible in managing the Finance and Operations function, working alongside our regional senior executive team. You will work in a very lean set up where the ability to be hands-on and working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment can be expected. You will deliver accurate and insightful management accounts and analysis on regional financial results and business performance. You will drive budgeting and forecasting activities, long-range planning, challenge assumptions, and provide financial support in strategic decision making & acquisition/ disposal processes. You will also drive profitability analysis, evaluate and suggest cost management opportunities, and ensure proper data governance within the region. This position will be a key business partner to the leadership team and you will be managing an existing team of finance and operations professionals. You will also have leadership responsibilities in managing external parties including our external auditors, advisors, corporate secretaries and investor/shareholders.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Be a strategic leader and partner CEO, and work alongside senior management to drive specific projects an initiatives
Oversees and manage all aspects of the finance and operations department and ensures that all team members comply with operating standards and procedures, policies and guidelines
Full ownership of preparing month, quarterly and annual financial statements including consolidation of financials from our entities in Australia, Malaysia, India and Japan on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
Ensuring business operations run smoothly by working alongside sales team to ensure client onboarding, customer invoicing and contractor payment is efficient and best in class
Full ownership of the accounts receivable cycle ensuring that we collect payments from clients before AR becomes overdue. Recommend and challenge existing systems and procedures around invoice and AR tracking
Have full responsibility for corporate governance, statutory and tax matters, local tax obligations and GST filing
Develop and implement new SOPs and policies to improve accuracy and streamline operations and accounting
Oversee and review your teams entries of financial information and accounting data are accurate and accounted for in the general ledger (Xero)
Develop and define KPIs for the business, report them monthly and then create and suggest ways to improve the business unit functions
Lead strategic planning, cash flow forecasting and financial modelling
Manage audits and liaise with external auditors to ensure audits close in time
Maintain and improve internal controls over financial transactions and reporting
Manage our external vendors including accountants, auditors, corporate secretaries and investors/shareholders
MINIMIUM REQUIREMENTS
- A minimum of 10-years relevant experience
- Prior experience in a hands-on role in a small organisation (e.g. start-up, SG office of global company) is a must
- Must have Japan Accounting skills
- Japanese language and IPO experience is an added advantage
- Relevant financial qualification (e.g. CA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA) and prior experience at an international accounting is a plus
- Highly driven to succeed in a lean set-up where you must be hands on. You have desire to become a CFO/COO within the company as you progress
- A self-motivated individual capable of working with a low level of supervision. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating flexibility and resilience in challenging situations
- Strong analytical skills, with the capacity to manage details but still summarize executive messages to drive actions and improvements
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong time management with ability to plan, coordinate and communicate tasks across cross-functional teams
- Advanced user of MS Excel and MS PowerPoint with some knowledge of any external financial, consolidation or analytics software
