Smallshop is a commercial production house based in Singapore. We specialise in delivering top-notch TV commercials and short films, for a diverse portfolio of clients. We are looking for a passionate and proactive Director’s Assistant to support our Directors on commercial projects.
About the Role
As a Director’s Assistant, you will play a meaningful role in supporting the Director in both administrative and creative aspects of production. You will ensure that the Director's schedule is managed efficiently and that communication between departments and clients is smooth. The ideal candidate is big on film-craft, detail-oriented and resourceful.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Directors with treatment research for visual and music references during project pitches.
- Liaise with production teams to ensure the Director’s creative vision is communicated and executed effectively and on time.
- Provide creative input where appropriate and assist in reviewing and editing project materials.
- Attend shoots and meetings with the Director, taking notes.
- Assist the Director with tasks and errands as required, particularly during high-pressure production periods.
- Ensure all materials needed for shoots and meetings are prepared in advance (scripts, storyboards, shot lists, etc.).
Requirements
- Great passion for film and cinematography.
- Proven experience in TVC or media production roles.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
- An understanding of the TVC production process, with the ability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments.
- Ability to anticipate the Director’s needs and act proactively.
- Flexible working hours and a willingness to be available during shoots or urgent project needs.
- Awareness and knowledge of camera equipment and cinematography.
- Familiarity with creative and technical terminology in the media industry is an advantage.
Additional Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Media, Communications, Film, or a related field.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a support or assistant role, ideally in media production.
- Knowledge of TVC production and digital content workflows is a plus.
