The Role
We are currently seeking an established Director, Energy Transition to help identifying, and develop business growth across the Energy Transition sector within SJ’s global portfolio. This position is responsible for developing and growing the carbon management consultancy business by working in collaboration with the Global Energy Leadership, and the wider SJ Group business.
Your responsibilities extend to the ongoing development, direction, and delivery of the Strategic Action Plan for Carbon Management Growth within the Energy sector. This includes organic growth, capability development, strategic partnerships and alliances. This position is also responsible for developing new business including strategic opportunities, mergers and/or acquisitions and multi-business unit opportunities to achieve profitability and growth goals across the global business.
Key Responsibilities
- Engagement strategy: Develop and roll out sector-specific transition / sustainability engagement strategy aligned to SJ markets and sectors, directly contributing to the SJ ambitious growth target with real impact.
- Transition / Decarbonisation Solutions: Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to create innovative and practical energy transition and decarbonisation solutions that meet the specific requirements of our clients in key markets and sectors.
- Thought leadership and expertise: Stay updated on sustainability trends and regulations, translating insights into business development and partnership opportunities for SJ. Represent the company in conferences and round tables, and other industry events, showcasing our leadership and expertise in sustainability for global energy sector.
- Leadership and coaching: Lead a team of sustainability engineers, planners, engineers and project managers by coaching and motivating them to effectively drive sustainability engagement for SJ clients and internal stakeholders.
Desired Qualifications / Requirements
Typically has 20+ years’ industry experience, is proficient in energy transition consultancy, with demonstrated abilities in:
- Proven experience in a managerial role within consultancy environment, with a focus on business development and client engagement.
- Proven experience in energy transition and decarbonisation for industries, industrial parks and enterprises.
- Good understanding of global, regional, and national sustainability dynamics, including trends, regulations, certifications, and cultural nuances.
- In-depth understanding of how sustainability /transition drives shape the industries and the markets and how corporates are transitioning.
- Understanding market intelligence fundamentals and appreciate the value of studies on energy market trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements.
- Conceptualising and scoping out energy transition consultancy work (such as planning an industrial park’s energy transition and physical infrastructure or decarbonising an industrial ecosystem or cluster of assets), including crafting methodologies and deliverables.
- Economic advisory, such as formulating industry development strategies and programmes to capture value and grow output, value add, and land uptake sustainably.
- Possessing an established profile within the industry and actively involved in industry associations.
- Innovative mindset with an ability to navigate uncertain and evolving landscape with clear prioritisation and clear communications.
