Job Objective
- Lead unit’s strategic planning and operational initiatives, aligning with BSM’s mission to drive sustainable growth and high-quality operations. Focus on team performance to enhance efficiency, client service, and profitability, supporting BSM’s broader strategic goals.
- Collaborate with the Managing Director to define unit’s strategic goals and lead department heads in executing them.
- Optimize the utilization of the available resources of the SMC according to the operational needs and provides support and coaching to the Directors and Department Heads, to increase their efficiency and productivity and promote alignment to BSM values and culture.
- Chairs regular management review meetings and analyses the executive reports submitted by all departments concerning the SMC’s operations, developing analysis and implementing and/or proposing actions to potential discrepancies and findings, to provide to BSM group valuable information for the creation and implementation of the most suitable solutions.
- Analyze local and global maritime trends to boost BSM’s efficiency and competitive edge.
- Oversee compliance with regulatory standards and initiate improvements to enhance cost-effectiveness and minimize risk.
- Monitor executive reports and lead corrective actions to maintain operational excellence.
- Conduct at least 4 ship visits per year to engage directly with operational teams.
- Approve unit budgets, identify efficiency opportunities, and drive cost-effective solutions.
- Build and lead a high-performing team by recruiting, training, and supporting talent aligned with BSM’s values and goals.
Education & Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management or equivalent
- MBA or equivalent OR
- Chief Engineer/Master Mariner/General Management
- At least 10 years of Shore Experience with a Ship Management or Ship Owning Company
- Experience in customer management
- Knowledge of the local/regional maritime market conditions and local legal framework e.g. employers’ obligations, recruitment prerequisites etc.
- Knowledge of accounting and budgeting principles
