About the Opportunity

The IT Engineer provides support to employees experiencing technical problems and performs troubleshooting, problem diagnosis, resolution, and escalations. In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with system and server administration and virtualization experiences are required. Area of expertise for this position includes Microsoft technologies, VMware virtualization, Citrix VDI, Linux and storage. Prior experience supporting L1 and L2 requests in IT would be helpful for this position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibilities will include overseeing and executing system-based projects, writing scripts to automate manual processes, and creating system documentation & diagrams. Provide system administration and configuration of specialized mission applications and software.
  • Strategic Infrastructure Management: Global Administration, maintenance, and support of the Server environment and VDI infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and scalability to meet the evolving needs of the organization as the need arise.
  • Incident Resolution and Technical Escalations: Act as a point of escalation for complex technical issues, leveraging your advanced troubleshooting skills to swiftly diagnose and resolve incidents, minimizing impact on business operations.
  • Advanced Problem Analysis and Resolution: Conduct in-depth analysis of system problems, particularly those related to hardware, software applications, and operating system servers, employing sophisticated diagnostic techniques to implement effective solutions.
  • Comprehensive Documentation and Knowledge Management: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including automation scripts and procedures, to streamline troubleshooting processes, enhance team collaboration, and ensure continuity of operations.
  • Root Cause Analysis and Problem Management: Lead root cause analysis efforts for critical problems and major incidents, identifying underlying issues and implementing preventive measures to mitigate future occurrences, thereby safeguarding business continuity.
  • Proactive Performance Monitoring and Security Compliance: Utilize advanced monitoring tools and command-line interface utilities to continuously assess server performance, identify potential vulnerabilities, and ensure adherence to stringent security standards.
  • Change Management and Risk Mitigation: Spearhead the planning, coordinating, and executing system software upgrades, patches, and firmware updates, meticulously evaluating risks and impacts to minimize disruptions and maintain system integrity.
  • Effective Communication and Stakeholder Engagement: Interface with IT management, end-users, and departmental teams to communicate feedback, share insights, and champion initiatives aimed at enhancing operational excellence and delivering exceptional service quality.
  • Follows SOP: Support procedures and provides troubleshooting guideline and cause analysis for technical issues

Job Requirements

  • BS degree or equivalent experience.
  • 8 + years of advanced experience as a IT Administrator or Engineer with hands on experience in servers, virtualization and storage.
  • Active Directory (AD) & Domain Controller Administration including DNS and GPO management in a multi-site environment.
  • Building and administering Windows\Linux servers and accompanying infrastructure, maintaining capacity and performance in enterprise environment.
  • Candidates must possess experience with both Windows and Linux mixed environments.
  • Experience with Infrastructure – virtual environment, VDi, Citrix Netscalar, Backup& Restore, disaster recovery and business continuity
  • Hardware: Dell MX7000 Chassis and MX700 series blade configuration, PowerEdge rack servers
  • Storage: NFS and ISCSI storage concepts. Cronjobs and rSync functionality
  • Networking: TCP/IP, VLAN, DNS, Load Balancing and security concepts
  • Virtualization: VMware 7 and above and Citrix Storefront
  • Transferable Skills: Communication, ability to work with a diversity of people, ability to plan and organize, time management, analytical problem solving, Project Management, & customer service skills.
