You will work at the Environmental Health Institute (EHI), in a multi-disciplinary scientific environment which focuses on forging and maintaining strategic collaborations with local and international partners, including the World Health Organisation, research institutions and other public health related agencies. You are required to support the community engagement activities of EHI's field studies in particular, Project Wolbachia - Singapore, a novel mosquito control method to suppress the urban Aedes aegypti mosquito population.
Your primary role is to handle feedback from residents, and coordinate engagement activities, workshops and meetings. You are expected to work with community partners (grassroots organisations and schools) to raise awareness and garner support for Project Wolbachia. Based on your experience in handling feedback and working with the community, you will be expected to contribute to the development of communication materials (poster, flyer, banner, social media, etc) and having a flair for creating digital content is a plus. You are also required to support the administrative functions of the Scientific Programme Management Department, which involves support for research projects, workshops and other EHI-related initiatives. You will be performing the following tasks:
- Engage residents to raise awareness and address feedback (through phone calls, emails and face-to-face / door-to-door house visits)
- Support outreach activities in the community (e.g. convey key messages at events, handle interactive exhibits, manage educational materials, etc.)
- Coordinate communication and engagement activities with community partners (People's Association, Town Council, business establishments, schools, etc.)
- Provide administrative support such as audits, procurement, invoicing and billing processes
- Contribute to the development of content for stakeholder engagement, e.g. pamphlets, website, social media content, videos, infographics
- Coordinate meetings, events and workshops, and draft reports for recording and tracking purposes

- Excellent interpersonal skills, experience in community engagement or social service or customer service work will be an advantage
- Strong event management skills
- Excellent command of spoken and written English
- Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Detail-oriented and able to multi-task
- Mature, independent and resourceful
- Able to work outside regular working hours (on weekends or after office hours) to perform community engagement work
