The position will play a critical, high-profile role in driving Chubb Life’s business strategy development and execution in South-east Asia countries and New Zealand. The scope of responsibilities covers all aspects of Chubb Life’s business at the global and SEA and NZ market, across channels and functions; and includes strategy, planning, initiative design, change portfolio management, and execution leadership. The position will require extensive collaboration with a wide range of senior stakeholders including global/regional/market business leaders, channel heads, senior functional leaders, and Chubb Group colleagues in other business divisions.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Business strategy development, i.e., serving as a primary internal strategy consultant and advisor to Chubb life’s global management team for the SEA countries and New Zealand market.
  • In partnership with business and functional leaders in SEA countries and New Zealand to support and lead the development and execution of various strategy projects in line with chubbs life global strategy
  • Support SEA countries and functional teams identify and drive key strategic initiatives, and assist in developing pragmatic solutions to strategic and operational issues
  • Keeping the President of SEA and New Zealand aware of unanticipated problems to be addressed or opportunities to be considered as well as actively troubleshooting these problems
  • Key member in coordinating and reviewing the strategic plan and annual plan with all SEA and NZ markets management
  • Develop and compile the monthly management reports and lead monthly performance discussions with country presidents and chief financial officers in SEA and NZ.
  • Work with the Country Chief Actuary and operating to ensure that products are designed to deliver target profitability with product features that are consistent with other factors such as risk preferences, distribution method employed.
  • Support SEA President and local teams to deliver financial plans which covers financial and actuarial support where needed
  • Take leadership role on the projects that will improve country’s and departmental efficiency and performance in SEA and NZ markets.
  • Prepare presentation to Global Leaders as well as the supporting schedules for both internal and external reviews
  • Prepare any ad hoc reporting requests
  • Provide strategic oversight and leadership, support other key projects and initiatives as required

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Technical Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, actuarial, accounting, finance or analytics;
  • 10+ years of actuarial, accounting or financial reporting or FP&A experience;
  • Insurance experience, preferably experience working with a Life or A&H carrier
  • Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail and an ability to perform complex analyses
  • Mastery of end user applications (e.g. Microsoft products such as Excel/PowerPoint/Word)

Other Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge and discipline around financial management, business controls, budgeting, and reporting
  • Strong data analysis skills, with a management consulting skill set preferred
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills combined with the ability to successfully move between addressing major strategic issues and very tactical initiatives
  • A proven ability to achieve success through a management team both direct and in a matrix management structure, successfully navigating around the business and influencing from the Executive level down
  • Extensive collaboration skills and an ability to manage through difficult situations in a manner which ensures the business achieves its goals
  • Self-starter, capable of setting own agenda, and working with moderate direction
  • Able to productively liaise with peers in other Chubb business divisions

  • Business-level fluency in Cantonese, Mandarin or Korean (preferred but not essential)
