Job Description:

Avere Commodities is seeking a paid Biofuels Analyst intern to support its research activities in the biofuels space. The primary task of this position will involve conducting research on global biofuels markets, with a particular focus on EU&US markets.

Timing and Duration:

We are looking for a candidate who is available to start by December/January 2024, for a minimum duration of four months. Kindly specify your availability in your CV/cover letter.

Responsibilities:

  • Support senior analysts in developing and updating supply & demand balances for biofuels (FAME, HVO, ethanol) and related feedstocks (vegetable oils, waste oils, etc.)
  • Find and analyse new data sources to make supply and demand forecasts more robust
  • Help develop tools to streamline data gathering, data analysis and data visualization
  • Follow and analyse regulatory developments with regards to biofuels/renewable energy
  • Offer research and analytical support to other Avere product teams on an ad hoc basis.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS (completed or in progress) in economics, sustainability, chemistry, transportation/energy, political science, or related fields.
  • Strong quantitative skills and proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Familiarity with Python, VBA and SQL preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Curious and driven personality.
  • Biofuels is an industry on the cutting edge of renewables policy, energy and agriculture. Having a genuine interest in one or several of these themes is important.
  • Understanding of general economics, including supply/demand and price relationships, with familiarity in international markets.
